Thanksgiving Weekend 2012

Gatlinburg will be celebrating the Thanksgiving Season as the city traditionally does - with three special events going on at the same time, under the same roof at W.L. Mills Auditorium near Ripley's Haunted Adventure.

From 11/20/12 to 11/24/12, the Gatlinburg Festival of Trees will be the first event to take place at W.L. Mills and its also an excellent introduction to the coming Christmas season. This is a charity event sponsored by Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Ministries and features dozens of exquisitely made Christmas trees to make a man-made Yuletide forest in the great convention center. All proceeds go to the ministry efforts of Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Ministries.

Then, from 11/21/12 to 11/25/12, the Great Smoky Mountains Thanksgiving Arts and Crafts Show will be held on the other side of the convention center. With 100+ booths and artists both local and from Virginia, Ohio, Georgia and way beyond, there is a wide berth of arts and crafts available - from candles, baskets and wood works to rock works, paintings, clothes and more.

Finally, on the nights of 11/23/12 and 11/24/12, the Great Smoky Mountain Dance Theatre will perform two shows of the Nutcracker "Sweet", which means that on 11/23/12 and 11/24/12, you could enjoy three amazing holiday special events on the same day under the same roof! If you are your family are looking for something amazing to start the holiday season, here it is!

Come to Deer Ridge for the Thanksgiving and not only will you only be 15 or so minutes from attractions like these in Gatlinburg, but you'll have enough room and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy themselves at our mountaintop resort. You'll even have enough room for the Thanksgiving dinner!

Fall Arrives on the Ridge

Just wanted to let folks know that our blistering hot summer seems to be a memory now, as cooler more autumn-like tempertures have arrived. While the period of time between Labor Day and October is usually a slower time here at Deer Ridge Mountain Resort we have had some events to keep things busy. This weekend we look forward to hosting a golf group and having a small wedding here at the resort. October is just around the corner and we hope that you will be able to join us for Sunset Fest, our annual autumn celebration held each Saturday afternoon in October. This event features free food for our guests, wonderful bluegrass music, and the "Best View of the Smokies". If you haven't made plans yet there is still time...but remember these weekends book fast, so don't wait too long. The colors haven't changed yet, we never know exactly when they will - as always, you can give us a call and we will let you know how things are looking. I thought I would post a few pictures of autumns past just to set the mood!

Reviews for September 2012

Some new reviews for Deer Ridge.

"Peaceful condo, with a million dollar view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

"We went for a short stay over Labor Day, and we were very pleased with our stay! This was the first time I had stayed in a condo on vacation, and after this, I wouldn't want to stay in a hotel room. The view was spectacular, surrounded by mountains and nature. Woke up in the morning and went out on the balcony, enjoying the views. We saw wild turkeys on the property both mornings, and hummingbirds coming to the balcony of a nearby condo owner. Yes, it was 12 miles from the town of Gatlinburg, but that's what really made it wonderful for us. Away from all the hustle and bustle and craziness of Gatlinburg and it's traffic congestion! Very serene and peaceful! I would definitely stay here again. The only thing I'd do differently is next time I'd get a condo with the loft, so that we'd be on the top floor. We were on the middle level, and someone who rented the condo above us let their kids run laps around the living room, and it sounded like a herd of elephants above us. That's just something that their clueless parents should have controlled. Other than that, everything was wonderful! Beautiful place!"

The resort location is off the beaten Path which makes it quiet and you feel like it is all yours. The view from room was magnificent watching the clouds roll in on the mountaintops. It was a true adventure that we enjoyed. All the things we needed were in the kitchen. Our family will be coming back!

Vavasour Reunion 2012

Just received a note and some great pictures from Eileen Dunn, leader of
the Vavasour Family Reunion held here at Deer Ridge Mountain Resort in
August. She says:"Thank YOU for everything you did for our family--we
had a fabulous time!!
I can't thank you and your staff enough for helping things run so
smoothly for us, especially with the use of your screened-in pavillion.
That workedout so much better than I ever anticipated. Since I've been
home, I wrote a review on 'Trip Advisor' praising Deerridge and the
staff. When I get home, I will forward some photos that I have.
Thank you!"

“We were very happy with our stay and plan on returning for our other vacations in years to come. When we checked in we mentioned that we were celebrating our one year wedding anniversary. The next day we returned to our condo and found a bottle of wine and a card congratulating us on our anniversary. It was a very pleasant surprise and just another touch that makes Deer Ridge one of the best places to stay in Gatlinburg.”
The Bardley’s, Chattanooga, TN. Stayed 8/24-26, 2012 in A-103

“This was the most amazing trip I’ve been on in a while. The view from the room was breathtaking. Everything was lovely. We do plan to return and stay in the same resort as this visit. I recommend this resort to anybody that visits Gatlinburg. The only bad thing is that it’s not close to any eateries. You have to drive, but the scenery is beautiful.”

“My son and new daughter were married on your veranda and it was so beautiful. The view of the mountains was gorgeous. We also had one of the condos and everything was so clean and comfortable with another great view. I would recommend Deer Ridge to anyone.”
Lori White, Joliet, IL. Stayed 8/11-13, 2012 in C-204

“From my first phone call to the resort to discuss reservations, I was very impressed. Jamie and Becky at the front desk were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The ability to look at photos and videos of the individual condos on the website gave us a good feeling about what to expect; however, when we arrived, the first impressions of the resort were amazing and beyond our expectations. The views and the overall comfort of the resort and our individual condo have us wanting to return at our earliest opportunity. We couldn't be happier with our decision to spend our vacation at Deer Ridge. Our only regret is that we could not have stayed longer.”

“For the 2nd year in a row, my husband & I stayed at Deer Ridge in condo D-202. The furniture changed from last year & was not as cozy to our liking. Also, the bed was very uncomfortable with its plastic liner or something that made it difficult for one of us to stay in the bed because the room was then too warm. Other than that, Jamie, Catherine & Becky were wonderful and we hope to come back sometime in the not too distant future.”
Larry Morris, Hazleyon, PA. Stayed 7/21-28, 2012 in D-202

“This was a return visit for us. We love Deer Ridge Mountain Resort. The couch and recliner in the unit we were in weren't real comfortable, but we were out seeing the sights most of the time so it didn't matter too much. The rates are so good and we save so much money preparing our own meals and avoiding the craziness of Gatlinburg. Loved Smoky Mountain National Park.”
Katie Bush, Louisville, KY. Stayed 8/9-12, 2012 in D-204

“We had made reservations with a cabin rental company only to find out they had misrepresented the cabin. After checking out of the cabin we were unsure as to what we would do. Our daughter is taking chemo for a malignant brain tumor so she has to be careful in public areas. When I called to check on availability at your resort your staff went above and beyond to find us a condo with easy access and to make sure we knew all the pool choices. I'll be forever grateful to the staff for making Jess’s first vacation since she was diagnosed a huge success. We definitely plan to return!! Thanks again.”

Comments:
My husband and I just returned home from our stay at Deer Ridge. The first time we drove up the mountain to the resort and saw the sign "The Best View of the Smokies" we had no idea how true that would be! The view from our room was the most spectaculiar view we have ever seen! I could have sat on the balcony the whole time we where there! We also played golf at Bent Creek every morning of our stay. Bent Creek is the nicest golf course we have played! Although we where there in the spring and the course was very wet, we still loved it and can only image how wonderful this course would be in the summer! We decided on our way home we will be back to stay with you again and to play golf again, next time we want to come a different time of year to see the beautiful mountains in summer or maybe fall!! Alot of people told us how beautiful the mountains are with all the fall colors. We can't wait to come back again! Thank you for advertising exactly what we got, The perfect Mountain vacation!!!!!!
